Subhas Mathew has been in education since 2003 both as a teacher and an administrator. He has a MS in Personnel Management and Public Administration. He was the Headmaster (Administration) of an International Boarding School from 2003-2007, has been teaching elementary and middle school science since 2008 and has been a Principal/Assistant Principal since 2013. A consummate professional, Mr. Mathew has his Teaching and Principal certifications from Texas A& M and loves to motivate his students to be their best in all that they do.
Debra A. Bennett
Student Support (Special Education Teacher)
BS in General Studies / MS in Curriculum & Instruction/ MS in Social Studies K-12th grade and is currently enrolled in a Special Education Program.
Speech and Theatre Arts Teacher
Susan Franklin earned her B.S. degree in Secondary Education from Pillsbury Baptist Bible College. After two years of teaching at a private Christian school she entered the business world where she became a corporate trainer for a major Dallas bank trust department. Prior to coming to Newman Ms. Franklin invested fifteen years home-educating her son and daughter. Ms. Franklin is a dedicated professional who imparts the tools of Speech, Theater Arts and Critical Reading and Thinking to NIA students.
Foreign Language (Chinese) Teacher
Mrs. Ge graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a BA in Linguistics. She has not only studied Chinese but has also visited China five times experiencing the culture and the people. She has experience teaching ESL students at Dallas Community College as well as abroad. She has a passion to show students the benefits and joys of learning multiple languages.
Secondary Math Teacher
Ms. Caitlin Goodland graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas with a double major Bachelor’s Degree. She teaches Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2/Honors Algebra 2 as well as being an active supporter of the athletics programs here at Newman. She strives to challenge her students to succeed in all of their pursuits and looks forward to seeing their accomplishments at Newman International Academy and beyond.
Student Support Services
I graduated from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree. I graduated from Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) with my Master’s in Education. I have worked in education for 14 years gaining experience in the public, private, and charter school educational environments. Within my 14 year teaching career I have had the privilege of teaching all grade levels from prekindergarten to twelfth grade. My classes ranged from teaching general education to special education in the areas of Preschool Programs for Children with Disabilities (PPCD), Life Skills, Resource, Content Mastery, and Inclusion teacher. The majority of my teaching career was served as a Special Education Teacher. I work with Student Support Services Cedar Hill Campus for Newman Academy serving K-12 students.
Though this is Ms. Loper’s first year with NICH, this is her 10th year in education. She has experience in the fields of education, counseling, ministry and business. Ms. Loper has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Howard Payne University, a Master of Education in Teaching from UTA, a Master of Education in School Counseling from Dallas Baptist University, and an Advanced Graduate Certificate in Counseling from Dallas Baptist University. Her desire is to support the students, parents and faculty of NICH in achieving their academic, career, social and emotional goals. She looks forward to serving the NICH community as a part-time school counselor this year.
High School History
James Lubeck was born in LA Mirada, California, but he grew up in Guatemala. After obtaining his MA degree from Dallas Baptist University, he returned to Guatemala with his wife Dana and their three sons Christopher, Zachary and Stephen. After their return to the US, James became an education professional. He thoroughly enjoys teaching young minds about history.
Kathy J. Roberts
Secondary Technology Instructor
Ms. Kathy J. Roberts has earned her MA in Teaching from Dallas Baptist University and her BS in Computer Science, Industrial Engineering and Business Administration from Texas A&M University-Commerce. She began teaching in 2005 and has taught a myriad of technology and credit recovery courses in middle school and secondary education. As an educator who is passionate about her own learning, Ms. Roberts is equally as avid in ensuring an engaging experience for all students aspiring to learn more, do more and be more. She believes that education is more than academics and that learning extends beyond the classroom. Ms. Roberts is excited to be a member of the Outstanding Warrior Family at Newman International Academy.
Mr. Stephen West
Social Studies Teacher
Mr. West graduated from The University of Texas at Dallas with a Bachelor’s Degree in Historical Studies. He teaches 7th grade Texas History. In addition to teaching, Mr. West is the Head Baseball Coach and an Assistant Football Coach. Mr. West looks forward to challenging students to reach their full potential in the classroom and on the field.
